Short haul & long haul, protect your skin on board

Short haul, long haul, protect your skin on board. Flying can cause massive stress to our skin but it is often a necessary evil in our quest for summer solace. As mentioned there are things you can do before, during and after your flight to minimise adverse effects to your skin, so whether long haul or short haul, it’s in your best interest to be prepared.

Boarding a flight with a face full of make up is not going to do you any favours, but as noted, if you’re going to have to face the world on 4 hours sleep after a last minute meltdown over your packing then I understand why barefaced might not be the order of the day. A tinted moisturiser or BB cream can be left on during your flight without causing too much trauma. However, if you must face the world with full war paint then be sure to keep your Skin Laundry Purifying Wipes and oversized sunglasses handy for in-flight mode.

Airplane journeys are notoriously dehydrating, so whilst it may be tempting to make the most of duty free and /or the unlimited selection from the drinks trolley, your body (internal and external) needs water. A hydrating spray for your face will also keep that your complexion looking even against the onslaught of artificial and recycled air in the cabin. Water also helpfully minimises the effects of jet lag, so you get to enjoy more of your holiday.

A power nap on a short haul or more substantial sleep if you’re off further afield is going to help you make the most of your trip once you reach the other side. So whether you’re flying early doors, middle of the day or overnight, the Stephie Ann eye mask in this month’s box will aid rest. Block out your fellow passengers and rest your eyes against the 100% silk black back.

Now to avoid resembling a scarecrow after your strategic snooze, pre-flight you would have needed to put in some work. A deep conditioning treatment before you head off and a protective style (hair up in a bun) will keep your tresses from fuzzing and fraying in the cabin. A whole host of preparation has gone into getting beach ready so don’t undo some of that hard work on the journey there. Be armed with your on board beauty kit and keep hydrated!
